Interlibrary Loan Fees
FAQ

Q: How much does it cost to borrow a book or order an article?

A: The average fee charged by other libraries is $25.00 for books and $15.00 for articles. Additional charges such as shipping and “rush” status may apply.

Q: What is the turn-around time for my requests?

A: We process all requests on a “rush” basis.  Articles 1-2 days and Books 5-7 days.

Q: Why does it cost so much to request my materials?

A: The Research Center strives to obtain materials from libraries that do not charge a fee. When the request goes unfilled we then send it to libraries that own the materials, but they also charge service fees that we chargeback to your Project Activity Number.

Q: I really need these materials, can we borrow without paying “rush fees?”

A: Yes. We can still attempt to process your requests based on the “maximum amount” you indicate, but cannot guarantee quick delivery.  Turn-around time provided by libraries we have to borrow from will increase: 5-7 days for articles ; 10-15 days for books. In the "Notes" field indicate "no rush".

Q:  Why should I use the Research Center ILL Service?

A: The Research Center’s highly skilled staff are prepared to meet your needs in a courteous, accurate, equitable, and professional manner with the highest regard and commitment to providing high quality customer service. We are members of a consortium that allows us to tap into the collections of libraries throughout the United States.
